Civil Litigation

 

Civil litigation is the prosecution or defense of a non-criminal matter before a court of law, where a party seeks monetary compensation or specific performance from another party. With years of civil litigation experience, our office handles a variety of civil related cases, including: damages and personal injury; contract disputes; commercial debt collection; injunctions, among others. Our civil parctice extends to the Federal and State Courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.

 

First Amendment

 

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. It is the cornerstone of our democracy, and provides for the free flow of ideas.

Related issues include freedom of information, religious liberties, freedom of speech (including commercial free speech), defamation, privacy, among others.

Government Affairs

 

We have the experience and resources to serve our clients in resolving their government related issues. From government advocacy to compliance with regulations, we can help you navigate the complex legal framework of our Executive and Legislative branches.

Family Law

We handle a variety of family law related issues such as divorce proceedings (contested or uncontested); child support; visitation and custody matters; adoptions, among others.

 

Notary Law

 

Our notary services include: prenuptial agreements; purchase deeds; mortgage deeds; powers of attorney; trusts; protocolization (validation or legalization) of documents notarized outside Puerto Rico, and more. We are able to help our out of state clientele with the challenges presented by the differences between the Common Law Notary (as found in most states) and the Civil Law Notary.
